November: Arthi and Steven presented a workshop called Needs Mapping: A visualization technique to understand student needs and improve student success at
March: RyeCatcher was featured in the Aspen Institute Guide for Creating Trusted Learning Environments .
January: RyeCatcher and the Carnegie Mellon School of Design: Graduate students in the Introduction to Interaction Design Studio are working with RyeCatcher to design variations of the existing mobile application that updates interface and interaction patterns.
2016
May and September : Arthi participated in two working sessions of the Aspen Institute Task Force on Learning and the Internet.
March: Arthi presented on a panel called Our Information Commons: Challenges and Opportunities with Open Data at the Next Systems Open Government Conference in New York City. Co-panelists represented the OpenReferral Initiative, Queens Public Library and TheGovLab..
February: The RyeCatcher team conducted a design review of an early draft of the Community of Trust visualization. Read her post about the event on the HASTAC blog.
January: RyeCatcher and the Carnegie Mellon School of Design: Graduate students in the Introduction to Interaction Design Studio are working with RyeCatcher to explore concepts for micro services, like a time-tracker, to improve the mobile application.
2015
March: SxSWedu: Announced in Austin, TX, RyeCatcher’s Family Trust Network was awarded a Digital Media and Learning Trust Challenge grant! The MacArthur-supported competition is the 5th in a series that seeks to advance student success in a Connected Learning environment.
January: RyeCatcher and the Carnegie Mellon School of Design: Students in the Introduction to Interaction Design Studio are working with RyeCatcher to design a mobile version of the application’s circle, notes and events features.
January: RyeCatcher was named a finalist in the Digital Media and Learning Trust Challenge!
2014
September: RyeCatcher expanded its Partnership with Children pilot to the 35+ schools in New York City served by the organization’s social workers.
September: RyeCatcher launched in the state of Washington through a partnership with the Washington Charter Association.
August: RyeCatcher participated in the My Brother's Keeper DataJam a collaborative ideation session with leaders from the public and private sectors. The team developed the idea Books Buzz--a family reading support tool, which is under development this Fall.
July: The Rye Family Needs Assessment tool launched at the Achievement School District in Memphis, TN. This tool helps identify student and family needs through a simple, step-by-step, family survey.
January: RyeCatcher was featured at the Second White House Office of Science & Technology Policy and Department of Education Datapalooza.
2013
September: RyeCatcher launched at the Achievement School District in Memphis, TN.
September: RyeCatcher launched at the Partnership with Children organization in New York City.
